A Sneak Peek of meowfest 2019's Food Vendors
Toronto might be described by some as "the New York of Canada," but thanks to its many culinary creatives and sheer cultural diversity, it's rapidly building its own name as one of the North America's top culinary destinations. No matter what type of cuisine you're in the mood for, you'll be able to satisfy your craving, often without straying too far.
You can get a taste of Toronto's rich culinary scene at meowfest, which will host some of the city's most raved-about food vendors. Make sure to fill up on something delicious before heading to the Drinking Fountain for a Meowmosa...or three.
Here's a glimpse of what you can expect to eat at this year's festival:
Animal Liberation Kitchen
Family-run ALK is driven by two passions: a love for healthy, tasty food, and a love for animals. Through dishes inspired by traditional kitchens around the world, they prove that you don’t have to sacrifice taste to eat plant-based.
What we can’t wait to try: Smoky truffle shitake mac and cheese (noodles with cashew-based sauce, sizzled truffle oil, shitake mushrooms, sesame seeds and herbs).
Sausage Party
Forget your typical mustard-and-ketchup carnival hot dog! Ironically-named Sausage Party dishes up veggie dogs fully loaded with flavourful toppings.
What we can’t wait to try: "Seoul Food" (veggie weiner topped with housemade Spicy kimchi, wasabi 'mayo', and black sesame).
Booyah Inc.
Have a sweet tooth? This adorable cart serves up a delicious selection of homemade treats, from ice cream by the scoop to ice cream tacos. A vegan option will also be available.
What we can't wait to try: The ice cream taco: two generous scoops of ice cream served in a crispy waffle "shell".
Los Vietnamita Taqueria
If you've never tried the mouthwatering fusion of Vietnamese and Mexican cuisines, consider this is your chance!
What we can't wait to try: The award-winning crispy fish Bánh Mì taco, topped with sriracha crema and citrus purple slaw.
Omusubi Bar Suzume
Omusubi is a "Japanese comfort food made from steamed rice formed into triangular shapes and usually wrapped with nori." The compact shape of these flavourful little creations make them the perfect handheld snack.
What we can't wait to try: The many delicious flavours of rice balls, from garlic shitake to Japanese sweet potato.
