Pawsitively Purrsome: meowfest Toronto Recap
Oh my whiskers, what a day! From fur-bulous felines to unexpected rainshowers, meowfest Toronto 2023 left us with memories that'll last a lifetime. The Toronto cat community united once again (after 4 years), and we're feeling grateful for the love and support that turned this day into a perfect celebration of all things whiskered and wonderful.
The sun was high in the sky in the morning, warming our hearts, but then - hold onto your tails - a monsoon decided to crash our paw-ty! Tents were flying like they'd grown wings, rain poured down like a waterfall (talk about a CATastrophe), but did that dampen our spirits? Not at all! We put our thinking caps on, or should I say thinking paws, and brought the purr-ty indoors. Folks gathered inside for more feline fun, shopping, and antics.
With over 40 vendors, it was hard to leave empty-pawed! Attendees could shop for everything from cat food, accessories, toys, art prints to delicious food and drinks.
Attendees were able to purrticipate in an all day scavenger hunt game. People were on a mission to collect stamps by visiting vendors, tuning into meow-nificent presentations, and tackling challenges . And speaking of games, this year's prizes were the cat's meow! Imagine snagging a Litter-Robot 4 (valued at $949.00), a year's supply of Oko Cat Litter (worth $360.00), a Catit Vesper Patio (priced at $249.99), or a whole litter-load of other prizes!
Fur-tastic activities were everywhere, from painting a kitty mural to cat-themed face painting! And how could we forget the temporary tattoo station? Now that's paw-some art that doesn't shed!
Our speed dating event hosted by 25dates.com was extremely successful with 13 people having matches and some even having up to three matches.
Celeb-purrty kitties were the stars of the day, and fans lined up to snag selfies and cuddles with the likes of Milo & Pablo, Picchu, Archer, Olly, and human celeb Lambo Licia.
Crowds made their way to the stage to listen to insightful discussions from Cat Sitter Toronto & RYERCAT.
Meow-walk, anyone? Attendees strutted their stuff on the cat-walk, flaunting their most fur-bulous feline-inspired ensembles, brought to you by meowbox.
Laughter filled the air as Lambo Licia tickled whiskers with her antics, and Alec Newman taught everyone the secret art of speaking cat (yes, it's a thing!). And to wrap up the purr-tastic performances, Diane Schneider, The Healing Harpist, played melodies that soothed even the feistiest of feline souls.
Several people lined up to play with or adopt the kitties from Toronto Cat Rescue. Even in the rain, attendees gathered under the tents to hang out with the adorable cats and kittens. We were so happy to hear that 30 cats were adopted at our event.
Our Gigantic Fur Ball got even bigger at meowfest! We asked attendees to bring in their kitty’s fur and add it to the fur ball, and they did not disappoint.
Let's not fur-get the photo ops! From climbing a human-sized cat tree to striking a pose with our meowfest kitty cutouts, Instagram feeds were filled with adorable memories.
A gigantic THANK YOU goes out to our fur-tastic volunteers, sponsors, vendors, rescues with hearts of gold, headliners who made us purr, media partners who spread the word, and of course, the attendees who turned this event into the ultimate catstravaganza.
Until next time, keep those tails held high and those purrs turned up to eleven. Meow out! 🐾🐱
