Top 4 Places to Adopt A Cat in The Greater Vancouver Area
Adding a furry friend to your family is a very important and personal decision.
Whether you’re looking to become a first-time cat parent, or you’re looking for a sibling for your current cat, adoption is always the best way to go. Every year, thousands of kittens and cats are rescued, each with their own purr-sonality, temperament, and love to offer. If you’re thinking about adopting a cat in the Greater Vancouver Area, here are some of the best places to ensure you’re supporting an ethical, and humane adoption center.
LAPS
With a scenic view, and great staff this protection society won’t disappoint.
The Langley Animal Protection Society is a humane society based right outside of Vancouver. The Langley Animal Protection Society, or LAPS, was started in 2003 by a dedicated group of volunteers, who wanted to see a humane society with a more animal-centric approach to adoption, and care.
The LAPS takes care of nearly 1400 dogs, cats and large animals each year. Each animal is cared for and raised with healthy food, a huge amount of outdoor space, and frequent human interaction.
If you’re looking to adopt a cat, there are always hundreds of cats available for adoption, of every age, and every ability level. All adoption fees are used to help facilitate cat rescue, veterinary fees and boarding costs for the animals.

3. Heart and Soul Dog and Cat Rescue Society
Even though it’s a relatively new rescue society, make no mistake, Heart and Soul Dog and Cat Rescue Society lives up to their name!
Started in 2015, Heart and Soul is a completely volunteer ran, donation driven pet rescue society. Heart and Soul specializes in spaying-and neutering for domesticated and feral cats. HSDCRS believes that it is important to not only help reduce the population of cats without a home through adoption, but through spaying-and-neutering. Heart and Soul takes a variety of cats, from feral moms with new kittens, to surrendered dogs and cats.
Heart and Soul Dog and Cat Rescue Society is constantly having adoption drives, fundraisers, and fun pet-themed events, so if you don’t see any cats who fit your household, remember they’re always rescuing new cats and kittens.
