Top 4 Ways to Get Ready for meowfest Vancouver

Hey Vancouver cat lovers! The countdown to meowfest is on, and we're seriously stoked to party with all of you. Our lineup of kitty awesomeness is off the charts, and we're bouncing with excitement to hang out with you. We’ve got some impurrtant information for you on how to gear up for the big event, so here are 4 ways to get ready for meowfest Vancouver.

1. BRUSH UP ON PET-IQUETTE

We'll be swimming in a sea of adoptable cats and famous feline personalities, so it's essential to brush up on your cat social skills. Remember, each cat has its own purrsonality. Some might be friendly, while others might be skittish. So, follow their lead and ask their cat parent for permission before approaching, petting, or snapping a selfie with their fur ball. Let's keep the respect levels high, especially amidst the wild and wonderful festivities that might push some cats out of their comfort zones. As a reminder, cats are not allowed at this event, please leave your kitties in the comforts of their own home.

2. PLAN FOR THE EVENTS YOU WANT TO GO TO

There will be so many amazing events planned for Vancouver. With so many purrformances, photo-ops, meet & greets, prizes, and live DJ, it can be daunting to figure out all the things you want to do! If you want to get around to everything, make sure you plan ahead to know what time your favourite activities are going on, so you don’t miss out on your purr-fect day. If you are here to see the meet & greet or the adoptable cats, please plan accordingly as line-ups can get quite long. VIP ticket holders have the oppurrtunity to skip the adoptable kitty line. Also you might want to come early as the first 200 people through the door at each time slot will get a swag bag. Check out the event calendar, to see what time the purrformances, meet and greets, social activities and more are going to take place.

Meet Catfe's Very Good Boi

Get set to get snuggled by Giant Junior! You’ll have to make a trip to Catfe to meet their resident cat Junior IRL, but at meowfest you’ll be able to get a big ole hug and a selfie with this larger than life replica of Catfe’s Very Good Boi. Home to adoptable rescue cats that you can cuddle up and sip a cat-puccino with, Catfe was one of the first cat cafes to open in Canada back in December 2015, on the second floor of International Village Mall in Chinatown. Since then, they have found homes for nearly 1,600 cats!

Junior was adopted by the cafe in 2020, when he made it clear that Catfe is his happy place. He loves to socialize and play with visitors and staff, and more than anything, he adores making friends with other cats. Junior acts like a big brother to nervous newbies when they first arrive at the cafe – he makes sure to greet every newcomer, and helps them settle in. Many a shy kitty has found comfort in snuggles with Junior, and now you can too!

3. FIND OUT WHERE YOU’RE SHOPPING

From delicious local food to cat themed products and everything in between, your shopping needs are covered at meowfest! Whether you’re buying something for yourself, or your bestie who couldn’t make it – there will be something for everyone. Or let’s be honest, you’re probably shopping for your cat. In that case, we’ve got several vendors that sell purrducts for cats.

Check out our entire list of vendors here and the event map here.

4. DON’T FORGET YOUR CAT FUR!

As you may know or (or not) we are attempting to build the World’s Biggest Furball. It’s kinda weird…but also pretty epic! The news has been calling us unhinged and we’re here for it. We are partnering with The Bailey Cat Company to set this record. So be a part of hisstory with us and bring in your cat fur! But first, make sure your cat hair is clean (let’s keep it sanitary, folks!). If you bring in fur, you’ll get entered to win some pretty amazing prizes. Check out the prizes here
