Meet meowfest 2020 Shelter, LAPS!

If you attended meowfest 2018 in Vancouver, you may remember meeting the adoptable cats from Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS). LAPS is one of Greater Vancouver’s best known animal rescue organizations, using a progressive and humane approach to care for more than 1000 dogs and 400 cats and large animals every year. Each and every animal passing through LAPS’s doors receives more than just shelter: they also benefit from environmental enrichment, frequent exercise, nutritious food and industry-leading care.

Recently we stopped by LAPS to chat meowfest 2020 and visit the kitties currently available for adoption. In 2009, LAPS moved from its former rundown building to a brand new, state-of-the-art facility named in honour of LAPS’s founder, Patti Dale. Visiting the shelter, you can see that every aspect of the space was designed with the physical and mental health of the animals in mind.

Among all the sweet, adorable cats we fell in love with at the shelter, there were two that stood out to us in particular: Shoshanna and Hannah, a pair of four-year-old sisters who have been patiently waiting to find their forever homes for over a year. They may have stood out to us because they reminded us so much of our meowbox meowdels, Zac and Harvey.

LAPS is a no-kill shelter, which means they unfortunately must turn away animals if they do not have the physical space and financial means to accommodate them. With only a quarter of their funding coming from the City and Township of Langley, LAPS relies heavily on fundraising events, community donations and the help of their 200 volunteers and 25 foster families to care for their animals.

You can meet the amazing LAPS team and their adoptable felines at meowfest Vancouver on August 1st! General Admission ticket will be released on Saturday, March 28th at 10am PST.

On February 13, 2020, the meowfest team paid a visit to the Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS).
